Our goal is to help improve the quality of life for our Community members both on and off-reserve by making strategic investments of the resources entrusted to us, we can support the social and economic development of our Community.
Consideration will be given to projects and programs that advance the interests and quality of life of Peguis and its members. While no specific restrictions will be applied to funding between on-off reserve member applications or allocations between different authorized uses (as below), the Community Fund Trustees will give fair and equitable consideration to all applications based on their individual merits as presented.
Trust Funds are not available for individual use and are intended to benefit the Beneficiary for community purposes. Community Fund Projects should sustain and improve community infrastructure and/or address the community’s social, economical and physical needs (and per the authorized uses of the Trust) and benefit the beneficiaries in areas such as:
- Health Care
- Education Opportunities
- Special needs of Elders
- Community Development and Improvement
initiatives - Language and Cultural Heritage
- Community Activities
- Credit union, bank or trust company
- Housing
- Business or Commercial Operations
- Aboriginal and Treaty rights
All applications will be reviewed and discussed by the Community Fund Trustees. The following approval authorities will be observed (as outlined in the Trust Agreement):
Applications of the Trust Property for amounts less than $101,427.16 reviewed by Community Fund Trustees.
Approval of the Community Fund Trustees Applications for funding $101,427.16 and up to $338,090.50 (this amount changes annually) must also be reviewed and approved by Chief & Council.
Applications for funding over $338,090.50 (this amount changes annually) or more must be reviewed and approved by both Chief & Council and are subject to a vote by the Members at a meeting of Members.
Important Information Relating to the Funding Application Process
There are no deadlines for applications, members can submit throughout the year.
The Community Fund Trustees will endeavor to review all qualified applications ASAP.
It is the responsibility of the applicant to ensure that the proposal be received in sufficient time for the Trustees to make an informed decision.
It is the responsibility of the applicant to ensure the application is completed in detail with all the required information and/or attachments. Incomplete applications will not be reviewed.
Project Reporting
Each approved project is required to submit a report to the Trust regarding how the project met objectives and completed the proposed activities. Failure to report on your project may result in future applications NOT being considered by the Community Fund Trustees.
