FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Chief Peguis Investment Corporation Report Issues

It has come to our attention that Chief Peguis Investment Corporation (CPIC) had posted some information regarding the Peguis Surrender Claim Trust, on the website chiefpeguisinvestments.ca, CPIC Newsletter and Don Wilson Facebook on March 19th, 2021.

The information posted in error, indicates the Peguis Surrender Claim Trust had approved a loan for $5.1 Million dollars to purchase the land and building at 1 Warman Road Winnipeg and are awaiting a community vote.

The Peguis Surrender Claim Trust has not approved a loan to CPIC for the purchase of the land and building.  We can confirm that a revised application from March 2019 had been received in August 2020 for the purchase of the building at 1 Warman Road Winnipeg.  This application is still undergoing due diligence and vetting procedures required for applications over $300,000, that would require approval by a community vote.  At this point in time, the Peguis Surrender Claim Trust has not approved the application, nor has the application been recommended to Chief and Council for their approval and recommendation to the community.

We apologize for the miscommunication and any concern raised regarding this posting.  We will advise CPIC Management & Board to retract the misinformation due to the lack of factual data posted in their public information & communication.
